NEW ORLEANS – Little Rock's Team has the eyes of the Sun Belt Conference upon them. The reigning back-to-back Sun Belt Conference Championships have been picked as the league's preseason favorite while two Trojan players –
Kyra Collier and
Tori Lasker – were named to the league's preseason all-conference team.
The Trojans received six of the 12 first-place votes and tallied 127 points, but the selection was hardly a landslide. Only eight points separates Little Rock from the preseason fourth place pick (South Alabama, 119 points) with projected second-place Troy (123 points, four first-place votes) and third-place UT Arlington (120 points, one first-place vote) in between.
Collier was selected to the league's preseason all-conference first team after being named the Most Outstanding Player at last year's Sun Belt Conference Tournament. She finished the 2018-19 campaign averaging 14.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, shooting 39.7 percent from the floor. She finished second in the conference with 71 steals last season.
Lasker, a third team all-conference selection last year, was named to the preseason all-conference second team Wednesday. The junior guard averaged 9.8 points last year while her 3.4 assists ranked sixth in the Sun Belt.
Little Rock opens the 2019-20 season on Tuesday, Nov. 5 when the Trojans play at Texas A&M. Little Rock's Team debuts its home slate at the Jack Stephens Center on Wednesday, Nov. 13 when LSU comes to town.
Season tickets for the 2019-20 campaign are currently on sale with packages as low as $99. A static plan that includes six games on five dates for one low price is also available.
