Little Rock Inks Mekayla Holley to National Letter of Intent

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Head Women's Basketball Coach Joe Foley announced the signing of Mekayla Holley to a National Letter of Intent Friday.

Holley will join the Trojan program starting with the 2020-21 season. Little Rock, currently in its bid for a third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, will graduate two seniors this season.

A 5-foot-7 guard from Carrollton, Texas, Holley is a three-time all-district selection that averaged 14.8 points and four rebounds per game in her junior year. Twice named academic all-district and team MVP, she averaged 3.1 steals and 3.0 assists per game during her junior campaign.

"Mekayla came on our radar in May," Foley said. After coming to camp in June and watching her in July, we saw the athleticism and play-making abilities that fit into what we do here, both offensively and defensively. I look forward to having Mekayla here at Little Rock and seeing what she can do both on and off the court."

In her sophomore season, Holley averaged 8.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while swiping 2.8 steals per game.

"We have seen so much improvement over the last three years in Mekayla and cannot wait to see what she does this season," Carrollton head coach Melany Stowe says of Holley. "She is an amazing talent, tremendous student and great leader on and off the court. We are proud to honor her as she signs with Little Rock. We know she will have a great experience with that program, we look forward to seeing them play when they come to town and we will continue to support her and the Trojans. Congratulations to Mekayla!"

Holley joins Tia Harvey, another Texas guard, in the Little Rock signing class.
