TOPEKA, Kan. – The Little Rock swimming and diving team is now over halfway through the Kansas Classic, with a full second day of competition complete. With more events came more finals session qualifiers, and the Trojans had ten swimming in the evening, not including the several that raced in relays.

200 Medley Relay
The A and B relay placed 15th and 16th, respectively, finishing within a second and a half of each other. The A team of freshman
Fer Moussier, junior
Palmer Ristroph, freshman
Asmalia Redzuan, and sophomore
Carolyn Godwin turned in a time of 1:46.32, dropping five seconds from their seed time, while the B squad of junior
Regan Lawrence and freshman trio
Anna Grom,
Ashleigh Green, and
Khadijah Brown posted a 1:47.70 for a 5.66 second drop.
100 Butterfly
Moussier made her way into the B final to score points for Little Rock, finishing 14th overall with a new personal best 56.43. Godwin finished third in the C final after a quick 57.34 morning swim, holding to a consistent 57.46 at night, while sophomore
Katelyn White rounded out the D final, stopping the clock at 59.47, just three tenths behind her time from prelims.
200 Freestyle
Redzuan qualified for the C final of the 200 free, dropping major time from prelims to finals to post a new best time of 1:52.98. Sophomore
Lea Zengerling, junior
Lily Kerr, and classmate
Ashley Hornbuckle all returned for the bonus D final, each recording season bests at some point during the day. Zengerling touched the wall at 1:58.75 in prelims, Kerr dropped to 2:01.63 at night, and Hornbuckle swam to 1:59.94 in the morning.
100 Breaststroke
Ristroph also scored points for the Trojans this evening in the B final of the 100 breast, placing 15th with a 1:06.00 after posting 1:05.63 in prelims. Grom made it into the C final with a 1:07.33, while fellow freshman
Taylor Baldacci clocked in at 1:08.14 for fourth in the D final.
100 Backstroke
Moussier also represented Little Rock in the scoring B final of the 100 back, rounding out the heat after a quick 58.13 morning swim.
Regan Lawrence showed up with a near four-second drop down to 58.57 to make it into the C final. Meanwhile, the D final had several Trojans swimming again for faster evening races, including senior
Jessie Baldwin, freshman
Fernanda Gamez, and senior
Charis Won. Gamez and Baldwin went under the 1-minute mark to tie at 59.61, while Won clocked in at 1:00.11.
800 Freestyle Relay
The longest relay in the lineup saw the A team of Green, Zengerling, Gamez, and Redzuan finish 13th with a time of 7:51.05 thanks to a big last leg by Asmalia. The B relay of Won, Hornbuckle, and seniors
Rachel Maradyn and
Amanda Dreyer took 17th in 8:04.65.
