KYLE, Texas – Little Rock closed out the first tournament of the spring season, finishing 14th at the Texas State Invitational at Plum Creek Golf Course. The Trojans closed out the 54-hole event at 63-over 915, including a 32-over 316 in round three.

Little Rock's final round was paced by freshman Kellie Gachaga, who tied her career-low with a 3-over 74 over the final 18 holes. She tied for the team lead with fellow freshmen Tilde Bocker at 12-over 225, tying for 37th individually. The two posted the most pars of any Trojan over the event, led by 37 from Bocker and 36 from Gachaga.
Freshman Malena Austerslaatt finished third on the team with a 15-over 228, tying for 50th overall, closing out the tournament with an 8-over 79. Emelie Blennow (25-over 238) and Sydney Scraba (32-over 245) rounded out the Little Rock scorecard.
Entering the day in 14th, Little Rock held serve with its 32-over 316. The Trojans finished two shots better than Sun Belt Conference foe UT Arlington (65-over 917) and were four shots back of 13th-place Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (59-over 911).
UT San Antonio captured the team title with a 2-over 854, running away with the tournament and besting second-place Kansas State (22-over 874) by 20 strokes. Tulsa (23-over 875) finished third with Houston Baptist (27-over 879) and host Texas State (28-over 880) rounding out the top-five.
Little Rock will return to action next week, making the yearly trek to Arizona for the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational. The three-day event, hosted by Western Michigan, will take place Friday, February 22 through Sunday, February 24, at Rio Verde Country Club.
