LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock's home meet ended sooner than it expected as severe storms forced the cancellation of the final eight events of the 2019 Little Rock Open at the Coleman Sports Complex.

Before the abrupt end of the meet, however, the Trojans had put together a solid performance on its home track as Little Rock won 10 different events with six runner-up showings.
For the Trojan women, Shanieke Watson won a pair of events on the day, winning both the 800 meters (2:14.24) and 1,500 meters (4:37.61) in her final meet in Little Rock. Nicole Edison and Bria Allen finished one-two in the women's long jump as Edison set a new personal-best with a jump of 5.58 meters.
Little Rock's 4x100 meter relay team also finished one-two on the afternoon as the team comprised of Edison, Helensia Green, Bria Allen and Aaliyah Lacy won the event with a time of 47.31, just ahead of Brandi Allen, Jessica Gray, Christina Nickerson and Erykah Sanders posting a time of 49.08.
The Trojan women were also strong in the 100 meters with Lacy (12.03), Brandi Allen (12.33) and Nickerson (12.81) finishing second through fourth. In the 400 meters, Green notched a runner-up finish (57.10) with Gray finishing third (58.18).
On the men's side, the Trojans captured six individual events, led by
Emilio Medina finishing first in both the 1,500 meters (4:01.37) and the 5,000 meters (15:40.35) as his time in the 1,500 was both a personal-best and a Coleman facility record.
Ryan Amador also notched a pair of event titles, winning the shot put (13.67 meters) and discus (41.64 meters), setting a new personal record in both events. He also set a PR in the hammer throw, finishing second with a toss of 43.53 meters.
In the sprints,
Emmanuel Olie won the 100 meter dash with a mark of 10.99 while
Jalen Black finished second in the 400 meters (48.58).
Nghia Dinh also had a productive afternoon, finishing first in the triple jump (13.85 meters) and third in the long jump (6.81 meters).
Little Rock returns to action next weekend, making the short drive up to Conway for the 2019 UCA Open on Saturday, April 13.
