Soccer to Head to TCU Before Hosting Central Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK - After a competition-heavy past week, Little Rock soccer (1-3-1) is now just over halfway through their nonconference schedule and will be prepping to close it out strong.

The Trojans will travel to TCU on Thursday, Sept. 5 for a 7:00 p.m. duel with the Horned Frogs. The team will be back home at the Coleman Sports Complex on Sunday, Sept. 8 to host rival Central Arkansas as part of the Governor's I-40 Showdown, with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.

Trojan Report

Despite a tight 2-1 loss to Missouri State on Sunday, their third game within the span of five days, Little Rock looks to bounce back as the players continue to become more bonded as a single unit. The Trojans refused to be shut out by the Bears, scoring off a free kick in the 86th minute. For more details, click here for the game recap.

Trojan Leaders

Freshman Julia Edholm has collected two Trojan goals of the 2019 campaign, assisted by the strategic junior Morgan Smocovich each time. Senior Doro Greulich also returned to the pitch for the first time in 2019 this past Sunday to earn a goal of her own. Aiding to the the offensive fire, sophomore Fanney Einarsdottir has put up eight shots, three on goal. Redshirt freshman Julia Curatolo, meanwhile, has snatched 15 saves already this season in goal.

Scouting TCU

TCU (3-1) hosts Little Rock just a few days after taking down No. 25 ranked SMU, 1-0. Two players earned Big 12 weekly honors for their efforts: keeper Emily Alvarado, who took home two shutouts last weekend, and freshman Gracie Brian, who has scored in three straight games. In 2018, TCU traveled to Little Rock and collected a 2-0 win before advancing to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. The series record currently favors the Horned Frogs, 4-1.

Scouting Central Arkansas

Central Arkansas is currently 0-3, falling to Arizona State, Missouri State, and Arkansas State thus far despite preventing shutouts. The Bears will play at Oklahoma State on Friday before heading back to the Natural State to face the Trojans at the Coleman Sports Complex on Sunday. Last year, Little Rock took on Central Arkansas on their turf, heading to double OT and ending in a tie. The Trojans currently own the series edge, going 7-2-1 against the Bears.
