LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Women's Basketball gained depth to its roster with international experience as head coach
Joe Foley announced the signing of
Mayra Caicedo to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.
She joins Little Rock's Team after spending the past two years at New Mexico Junior College where she averaged 5.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
Caicedo also brings international experience after serving as the starting point guard for Colombia at the 2018 FIBA U18 America's Women's Championship. While competing in that tournament in Mexico City, she averaged 16.5 points and 4.7 assists per game while guiding her native Colombia to a fourth place finish.
"We are excited about having Mayra come join our program," Foley said. "She has played at a high level both on the international level and the junior college level. Her experience in performing in a championship environment could really be a big benefit to some of our younger players and mix nicely with our veterans. Her ability to defend and disrupt on the defensive end of the floor should help continue our long legacy of tenacious point guards in our program's history."
Playing at the junior college level in New Mexico, she started in 60 of her 63 games while spearheading her team to the NJCAA National Championship in the 2018-19 season.
