NEW ORLEANS – Little Rock forward
Sali Kourouma averaged 22.5 points per game, shooting nearly 43 percent from the field, in the opening week of the 2021-22 season and has been named the Sun Belt Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Kourouma, a transfer from Grayson College where she was named her league's Newcomer of the Year in 2020-21, scored 30 points in Little Rock's 56-40 win at Vanderbilt last Friday night. Over the course of the week, she shot 42.9 percent (15-for-35) from the field and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the free-throw line.

She currently ranks 18th nationally in total points (45) and 10th in free-throws made. She is 40th nationally in points per game (22.5) and field goals made (15).

Last week, she also averaged 4.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 steals per game in 28.5 minutes per game of action.

Kourouma earns the Sun Belt's player of the week honor in her first week of Division I competition.

Trojan fans can watch Kourouma in action Tuesday when Little Rock hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 6:30 p.m.
