Little Rock Track & Field Heads to SBC Indoor Championships

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock track and field will return to the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama but this time, a lot more is on the line. A few weeks after heading to Birmingham for a South Alabama-hosted meet, the Trojans head back for the 2021 Sun Belt Indoor Championships starting Monday.
 
The two-day championship event will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live results available throughout the meet.

Three Things You Need to Know

1. Scorers Return
   Little Rock was young last year but returns most of its scorers from the 2020 Sun Belt Indoor Championships. Of the 16 Trojans that recorded points for Little Rock, 13 return for the 2021 edition of the conference meet.
2. Jones in the National Conversation
   Freshman Jonathan Jones made his presence known on the national stage on Feb. 7 as he became the first Little Rock athlete to ever surpass the seven-foot threshold in the high jump. Jones posted a mark of 7-1 (2.16m) to win the event and set a new school record. He is currently ranked second in the Sun Belt and 10th in the nation entering the championship meet.
3. Four Trojans in the National Ranks
   Little Rock has four athletes listed in the national rankings, led by Jonathan Jones listed 10th in the high jump. Also in the high jump, Christian Matamoros is ranked 62nd nationally while Cameron Jackson is listed 60th in the 60m dash. Dion Murombe is currently ranked 75th in the nation in the triple jump.
