BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Cameron Jackson posted the best 60m prelims time,
Mia Dunning broke her own school record and Little Rock scored in five events on the first day of the Sun Belt Indoor Championships at the CrossPlex in Birmingham on Monday.

Jackson's time of 6.72 is the third-best mark in school history and ranks tied for 33
rd in the nation this year. He'll have familiar company in Tuesday's finals race as teammate
Cogan DeRousselle ran 6.90 to finish eighth overall in the prelims, claiming the final advancing spot for the finals.

The two will have a chance to add to Little Rock's point total after the Trojans scored in five events Monday. That scoring was kicked off by
Mia Dunning, who set a new school record in the weight throw as she finished fourth with a throw of 57-0.75 (17.39m).

That was quickly followed by
Ryan Curington's fifth-place finish in the long jump. His mark of 23-7.25 (7.19m) ranks fifth in school history.

Overall, five events were scored on both the men's and women's sides. Little Rock's men ended the first day of competition in sixth place with 12 points scored while the women scored six points and finished the opening day in ninth place.

Both team scores were supplemented by the distance medley relay teams. The men's DMR team of
Carter Reynolds,
Phillip Anderson,
Logan Nelson and
Hunter Tucker ran 10:55.11 to place fifth while the women's quartet of
Keila Finnestad,
Helensia Green,
Alexia Allen and
Kimberley Boni placed eighth with a time of 12:49.09.

The Trojans also scored in the men's 5K as
Spencer Cardinal registered a fifth-place finish after running a personal best 15:03.69.

Colby Swecker and Ricardo Banks both advanced to Tuesday's finals in the 800m. Swecker finished third in the prelims with a time of 1:54.25 while Banks ran 1:54.92 to place sixth.

Not content with just advancement on Monday,
Jalen Black etched his name into the Little Rock record books as his 400m time of 49.14 ranks 10
th in school history and will push him forward into Tuesday's finals after placing sixth in the prelims.

Little Rock will also have someone in the 400m finals on the women's side as
Teresa Thomas ran 56.77 to finish seventh in the prelims advance to Tuesday's finals. That time ranks as sixth-best in school history.

Tuesday will conclude the 2021 Sun Belt Indoor Championships with field events beginning at Noon while running events will start at 2 p.m. along with the start of the ESPN+ broadcast.
