LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The trip may be short but the anticipation has been long brewing as Little Rock will finally compete in an outdoor meet, traveling to nearby Conway for the Richard Martin, Jr. Invitational starting Friday.
Â
The two-day meet, hosted by Central Arkansas, will mark Little Rock's first outdoor meet in two years and the first outdoor competition for most of the Trojans on the roster.

Three Things to Know
- New Experiences
Most of Little Rock's Team will gain new experiences this week and this outdoor season as less than 21% of the Trojans currently on the roster have ever competed at an outdoor collegiate meet before.
- New Challenges
Part of the new experiences at an outdoor meet comes with new challenges. Sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers will now have to compete with wind (and plenty of it, if conditions continue throughout the weekend) while distance runners will have the chance to run longer races. Keep your eyes on Spencer Cardinal as he competes in his first-ever collegiate 10K on the track.
- Hand It Off
Saturday will mark the first time many of the Trojans will compete in any of the 4x100m relays and there is excitement over what they might be able to do in their first-ever relay race. The men's 4x100m relay is expected to include Cogan DeRousselle and Cameron Jackson, two finalists in the 60m dash at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships. How will they adjust to the extra 40 meters?
