Two Trojans will take the track Thursday as
Jordan Smith and
Devin Stevens compete at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
Smith will compete in the 5000 meters, while Stevens will run the 800 meters. Both athletes had to meet qualifying standards to earn entry into the elite competition.
Although the Drake Relays officially run Wednesday, April 22 through Saturday, April 25, both Trojans will compete on the same day, Thursday, April 23.

Drake Relays
The Drake Relays are known for attracting world-class athletes from the professional, collegiate, and high school levels. This year's meet features former Olympians and world record holders among the competitors.
Thursday's "Distance Carnival" is a highlight of the meet, showcasing top distance runners from around the world in one of the most competitive sections of the event. The Drake Relays are consistently regarded as one of the premier track and field competitions in the United States.
Little Rock has sent a small group of distance runners to the meet in recent years. Current Trojans Smith and junior
Shane Fisher competed last season, with Smith placing fourth in the 5000 meters. He will look to build on that performance this year.
Coach Speak
"We are excited for some solid competition at Drake tomorrow. We have Devin in the 800m and Jordan in the 5k. We had a good experience last year and hopefully the storm holds out for us tomorrow night. It's a good opportunity to run against good competition at a beautiful facility!" said assistant track coach Jordyn Naylon.
Team Report
The rest of the team will be off this week as they rest and prepare for their final regular season meet at the SMU Invite in Dallas, Texas on May 1–2. The Trojans will use that meet as final preparation for the OVC Championships, scheduled for May 14–16 at the Coleman Sports Complex in Little Rock.
