Sunday's game marks the fifth installment of the Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield Governor's I-40 Showdown for soccer, the rivalry series between Little Rock and Central Arkansas that began in 2018. After a pair of ties in both 2018 and 2019, Central Arkansas took a pair from Little Rock in 2020, winning 1-0 in Conway before a 2-0 win at the Coleman Sports Complex. The meeting between the two is the first meeting of the rivalry series for 2021-22 with three points on the line.

Bergros Asgeirsdottir is well within reach of becoming the most experienced Trojan in program history. She enters Sunday's game with 73 starts in 78 games played, trailing Jane Picarelli's (2007-10) program-record 84 career games played and 83 career starts for the most games played in a Little Rock uniform. Asgeirsdottir has logged 6,797 career minutes played, less than 400 minutes away from surpassing Picarelli as the top in program history.
