Five Things to Know
- Controlling the Play
Little Rock opponents are finding it hard to move the ball against the Trojans (this really is no surprise to us here in The Rock). Trojan opponents are averaging just 9.5 assists per game, a mark that ranks 12th in the nation for Little Rock's defense. This is notable considering Texas State leads the Sun Belt and ranks 25th nationally in assists per game (16.4) and is second in the league and 18th nationally in total assists (312).
- We Don't Share Well with Others
Little Rock doesn't like to share with others. That is why opponents are finding out it is difficult to get their hands on the ball. Little Rock opponents are averaging just 5.9 steals per game, a mark that ranks Little Rock 24th in the nation. Meanwhile opponents are recording just a 7.3% steal rate, a mark that ranks 25th in the nation.
- Home, Sweet, Home
Little Rock is fond of the Jack Stephens Center and it isn't a place at which teams prefer to play. That's because the Trojans are 5-2 so far this season and have won five of the last six. That's a remarkable stretch considering talented teams like Auburn, Coastal Carolina and Memphis have all left the Jack disappointed.
- Effective Defense...
Little Rock opponents often get frustrated when facing the Trojans and it's not hard to see why. In conference play this season, the (real) Trojans lead the Sun Belt by allowing just 57.0 ppg. The next best scoring defense in league play this season is App State, who is allowing 63.5 ppg.
- ...It's What Little Rock Plays
Defense does still exist in the Sun Belt and it usually comes with "Little Rock" written across the chest. Trojan opponents are averagaing 58.7 points per game (ranking 68th in the nation) while Texas State is allowing an average of 69.9 ppg, ranking 291st in the nation. Â
