LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – After playing the reigning Ohio Valley Tournament Champion SIUE to a 1-1 draw last Sunday, the Trojans are back in the Natural State and to take on the Panthers of Eastern Illinois.
Â
Matchup History:
Â
Eastern Illinois leads, 3-0 | Last Game: Eastern Illinois won, 4-2, on 10/10/1998 in Charleston, Ill. | Streak: Lost 3
Â
Three Things to Know:
Â
1. Battling for Position
The Trojans trail Lindenwood by two points in the OVC standings with just two conference games left to play. The Lions currently hold fourth place and if the season were to end today, would co-host the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The next two games are of great importance if Little Rock hopes to leap Lindenwood to move into fourth place and a hosting position. Both of the Trojans final games are at home where they hold a record of 3-2-1 (1-1-0 OVC) this season.
2. Hey, I Remember You
Little Rock and Eastern Illinois, like the Trojans and many other OVC opponents, do not have much of a history playing against one another with the last meeting between the two coming on October 10, 1998.
3. Foe of Conference Past
In that most recent matchup in 1998, Little Rock and Eastern Illinois were both affiliate members of the Missouri Valley Conference. This means that, despite the lack of history with one another, the two programs were once conference opponents. Little Rock did not win an MVC game that season but did beat future Ohio Valley peers Morehead State and Tennessee Tech to round out the 1998 season.
