NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Little Rock graduate student
Kellie Gachaga has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Golfer of the Week, announced by the league office. Gachaga picks up her first career weekly honor and becomes the third different Trojan to earn OVC Golfer of the Week honors this fall.
Gachaga notched her second career top-10 individual finish at the Little Rock White Sands Bahamas Invitational last week, finishing ninth with a 7-over 223 to lead the Trojans. Gachaga fired a low round of 1-over 73 in round two and led Little Rock in both par-four (5-over) and par-five scoring (2-under), finishing with eight total birdies, finishing among the top-10 individually in each category.
The Nairobi, Kenya native also reached an impressive career milestone, playing in her 100th career round as a Trojan in Friday's opening round in the Bahamas. She has now tallied 102 career rounds, closing in on the top-15 in program history, with a career scoring average of 77.52, including her personal-best 74.58 during the fall season.
Gachaga and the rest of the Trojans have closed the fall season with a team scoring average of 297.73, currently ranking first in program history, shooting sub-300 in nine of the 15 rounds during the fall season. She is the third Little Rock golfer to earn OVC weekly honors this season, joining
Agatha Alesson (September 7) and
Anna Dawson (October 19).
