Former Little Rock Hurdler Bree Walker Finishes 16th at Olympics in Bobsleigh

BEIJING – Bree Walker, a former hurdler on the Little Rock track and field team, wrapped up her first Olympic experience Saturday with a 16th place finish in the two-woman bobsleigh.

The finish comes less than a week after she finished fifth in the inaugural monobob competition at the Olympics. The three-time letterwinner for the Trojans is competing for her native Australia at this year's Olympics.

Walker was the pilot in the two-woman tandem alongside Kiara Reddingius for Australia. Each bobsleigh team had an attempt in each of the four heats over two days of competition at the Yanqing National Sliding Center. The final results are tallied as an accumulation of all four runs.

Her best run came in the first heat as she guided Australia to a time of 1:01.98. Her final accumulated time of 4:08.64 placed her 16th in the 20-team event. Teams from Germany won Gold and Silver while the United States won Bronze.

During her career in the Maroon and Silver, Walker won a bronze medal at the 2014 Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships in the distance medley relay, as the time of 11:59.12 was good enough for third at the championship meet. Walker's relay team included Cheryl Nolan, Ashtin Boykin and Emma Dahl as they ran the fourth-fastest time in school history.

She would also score points at the 2014 Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a sixth-place finish in the 400m hurdles as well as seventh in the 4x400m relay.

In her Olympic bio, she cites receiving a scholarship to run in track and field as one of her proudest moments.
