Little Rock Inks Jayla Brooks to National Letter of Intent

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock head women's basketball coach Joe Foley announced that the Trojans have signed Jayla Brooks to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday morning. Brooks will join Little Rock's Team for the 2022-23 season.
 
Brooks heads to the capital city after spending last season at Panola College where she averaged 9.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals over her 27 games played. She dished out 90 assists on the year as she started in 23 of her 27 games, leading Panola to a 21-8 record on the year.
 
"Jayla is a true point guard that can run the team and score inside with penetration and outside on the perimeter," Foley said. "She is a great defender and plays with passion and intensity. We are looking forward to Jayla coming to Little Rock."
 
Brooks is originally a product of Sachse (Texas) High School, playing on the same high school team as Little Rock's Tia Harvey, and signed with SMU out of high school. She played four games for the Mustangs before an injury sidelined her freshman season.
 
"Jayla Brooks is a gifted guard that will make an immediate positive impact on Little Rock's team," Sachse High School head coach Donna McCullough said. "She is truly a difference maker on the court and will always find a way to make her team better."
 
She averaged 2.5 points in her four games at SMU with eight points at Oklahoma State and two rebounds against Arkansas before getting sidelined by an injury and transferring to Panola College.
 
Brooks joins Faith Lee, who signed with Little Rock in the early signing period, as the newest additions to the Trojans.
