Little Rock Inks Mira Hanna to National Letter of Intent

Forward ranked 43rd in nations in blocks per game as a senior last season

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock head women's basketball coach Joe Foley announced the signing of Mira Hanna to a National Letter of Intent Thursday morning.

Hanna, a 6-foot forward, will join Little Rock's Team this fall as a true freshman after an all-star high school career at Berkeley Prep in Florida, averaging 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game.

"We are very excited about the addition of Mira to our team," Foley said. "She is long forward with a ton of potential to be a good player for us. Mira is a great young lady that can score inside and outside with very good footwork in the paint."

A First Team All-State honoree as well as a two-time Florida High School Academic State champion, Hanna finished her senior season ranked 43rd in the nation in blocks per game (4.5) and ranked 16th in the talent-rich state of Florida in double-doubles. She was named a Hillsborough-Pinellas All-Star and an Hillsborough County Western All-Star while being a Class 3A Player of the Year Finalist.

Hanna also has the distinction of becoming the first player out of Berkeley Prep to sign a Division I NLI in women's basketball.

"I am so happy and proud of Mira and the legacy she has left behind here at Berkeley Preparatory School," Berkeley head coach Beth Lauteria said of Little Rock's newest signee. "As the first player in the history of the school to play women's basketball at the Division I level, Mira has proven her commitment to excellence and has demonstrated the utmost amount of strength and perseverance during her high school career. Being able to coach a player like Mira has been a dream come true and reminds me what coaching is all about. She has all the qualities of an exceptional student-athlete, teammate and person that will guide her success at Little Rock!"

She led her team to a 17-5 record and a district championship in her senior season before falling in the regional quarterfinals.

Hanna becomes the fourth addition to Little Rock's Team in this year's signing class, joining Faith Lee, Jayla Brooks and Mesi Triplett. She joins a Trojan program that is led by the nation's third active winningest coach as Joe Foley's 833 career wins trails only Tara VanDerveer (Stanford) and Geno Auriemma (UConn).
