Little Rock Inks Sha’nequa Henry to National Letter of Intent

JuCo All-American joins the Trojans roster this fall

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock head women's basketball coach Joe Foley announced the signing of NJCAA All-American Sha'nequa Henry to a National Letter of Intent Thursday morning.

Henry earned second team all-America honors this past season after leading Eastern Oklahoma State to a 25-6 mark as she averaged 18.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists on the year. She is a five-time regional player of the week while being named the region's Player of the Year and receiving first team all-region honors.

"Sha'nequa gives us an athletic guard that can score at all three levels," Foley said. "She also fits into what we do defensively with her ability to defend on the ball and keep people in front."

Over her two seasons at Eastern Oklahoma State, Henry averaged 15.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals while shooting 47.4% (317-for-669) from the field and 36.7% (88 of 240) from 3-point range. In her freshman season, she led Eastern Oklahoma State to its first conference championship in 20 years and then guided the team to another conference title in her sophomore season.

"I am very happy for Sha'nequa," said Eastern Oklahoma State head coach Alfred Davis. "She is a hard worker and a player who any coach would love to have. Her growth from her freshman to sophomore season happened because she knew exactly where she wanted to be, set a goal and surpassed that goal. Little Rock is getting a great player and I will miss coaching her. I am looking forward to watching Sha'nequa continue to grow while helping Little Rock win a lot of games next season."

Henry becomes the fourth addition to Little Rock's Team in this year's signing class, joining Faith Lee, Jayla Brooks and Mesi Triplett, Mira Hanna. She joins a Trojan program that is led by the nation's third active winningest coach as Joe Foley's 833 career wins trails only Tara VanDerveer (Stanford) and Geno Auriemma (UConn).
