Anton Albers Named Division I PING Honorable Mention All-American

Albers adds another accolade to his historic season

NORMAN, Okla. – Little Rock golfer Anton Albers has been named a 2022 Division I PING honorable mention All-American, announced today by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). It adds another honor to Albers' historic season as he continues to become one of the most accomplished golfers in program history.
 
Albers, the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Year, closed out his record-setting 2021-22 season with a 70.97 scoring average, becoming the tops in program history and besting the previous mark of 71.41, set by Justin Warren in 2018-19. Albers closed the regular season as the number one ranked golfer in the Sun Belt, sitting number 31 in the final GolfStat national rankings and tied with assistant coach Patrick Sullivan (2004-05) for the second-highest rated golfer in program history behind Daniel Fox's number 20 ranking in 2000-01.

Albers closed out his senior season with 20 rounds of par-or-better in 30 rounds played, including 10 rounds in the 60s. He shot a program-record 64 on a pair of occasions, while his 8-under 202 at the Goodwin is tied for the lowest individual mark in program history. He registered top-10 finishes in eight of his 10 events, including winning the Little Rock Invitational and notching runner-up showings at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate and the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
 
The Buchholz, Germany, native continues to bring in impressive accolades, adding to his Sun Belt Golfer of the Year honor as well as a first team All-Sun Belt selection. Albers earned hissecond-straight PING All-Region selection last week and was named a first team CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree as he boasts a 3.96 GPA in finance, including a 4.0 during the spring 2022 semester.
 
Albers becomes the first Trojan to earn back-to-back All-Region honors as he currently sits second in program history in career scoring average (72.59), career par-or-better rounds (45) and individual career wins (three), one off Daniel Fox's four tournament titles from 1998-01. He is one of three Sun Belt golfers to earn honorable mention All-American honors, joined by Ben Carr and Mason Williams of Georgia Southern.
 
Albers has led Little Rock to two of the most memorable seasons in program history as the Trojans finished the year ranked 43rd nationally in the final GolfStat team rankings, matching the final ranking in 2020-21. The Trojans captured the 2022 Sun Belt Conference title in its final year as a league member and qualified for NCAA Regionals for the second-straight year and the fourth time in program history.
