Trojans Look to Build on First Victory of Season with Match Against Oral Roberts on Thursday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – After defeating the Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions last Sunday, Little Rock will now take on their second golden adversary in the span of five days when the Trojans host the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts.
 
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will air live on ESPN+.

Three Things to Know:
 
1. Home Sweet Home
After beginning the season with road games at No. 22 Memphis and Central Arkansas, Trojans were able to return to the Coleman Sports Complex last Sunday for a match against Arkansas Pine Bluff. That contest ended in a 4-0 victory for Little Rock and now the Trojans turn their focus to another home match, this time against Oral Roberts.
2. A Day of Firsts
Sophomore defender Abbie Smith scored the first two goals of her career on Sunday. The last time a Trojan player scored multiple times in the same game was when Mariella Stephens did it in a 2-1 win over Georgia Southern on Nov. 2, 2020. Three freshmen also picked up the first points of their careers with Amaya Arias and Serenity Thake scoring goals and Bronte Peel getting credit for an assist. Thake also assisted on the Arias goal.
3. Long Time No See
It has been a little over 12 years since the Trojans and the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts have faced off on the pitch. The last meeting, coming all the way back on August 20, 2010, saw ORU claim a 2-0 decision. But you have to go all the way back to Oct. 26, 2006 to find the last time Oral Roberts paid a visit to the Capital City, when Golden Eagles made their last trip to Little Rock. That meeting took place at the Trojans' former home at Burns Park.
