NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Little Rock junior
Agatha Alesson has added another first for the Trojan golf program, becoming the first Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week in program history.
Alesson tied for 13th in the individual standings at the season-opening USA Intercollegiate in Mobile, Alabama, finishing the 54-hole event with a 2-under 214, setting a new personal-best. Alesson shot a 70-74-70 over the three rounds in South Alabama as her 214 is now tied for the sixth-lowest 54-hole individual tournament total in program history.
The Caracas, Venezuela native finished the USA Intercollegiate tied for third among the 75-player field in par-three scoring at 2-under and was Little Rock's top performer on the par-four holes at 2-over. With the effort in Mobile, she now has 11 par-or-better rounds in her career and nine top-20 individual showings.
Alesson paced Little Rock to a memorable showing in south Alabama as the Trojans carded a 5-over 869, setting a new program record for lowest 54-hole team tournament score. Little Rock closed out the event with a 1-under 287 in round three, tied for the fourth-lowest team round in program history as well.
Alesson becomes the third Trojan to earn OVC Player of the Week honors in Little Rock's inaugural season in the league, joining soccer's Natalee Geren (Defensive) and Peyton Urban (Goalkeeper), who earned weekly accolades Tuesday.
Little Rock returns to action next week, traveling to New Orleans, Louisiana, for the Green Wave Fall Classic September 12-13.
