JONESBORO, Arkansas —
Anna Dawson led for the majority of the two-day Lady Red Wolves Classic at Sage Meadows Golf Club, but a late surge from a Texas A&M-Commerce golfer forced a playoff for the top spot, where Dawson would ultimately finish second after four playoff holes. Dawson still turned in a very impressive performance, finishing second overall at 5-under par for the tournament with round scores of 69-71-71 (211) and helped the Trojans to their best team finish of the season.
FINAL TOURNAMENT SCOREBOARD
Little Rock turned in a 9-over in Tuesday's third round to finish fourth overall at 24-over 888 for the tournament (307-284-297). The Trojans were 11
th after a rough opening round, then responded with the best team round in almost a decade and second-lowest round in program history. Little Rock entered Tuesday second in the team standings.
Host Arkansas State won the team title finishing 4-over for the tournament. Louisiana-Monroe wound up second at 16-over, and Samford was third at 19-over. After the Trojans at four, Troy was next to round out the Top 5.
Katja Mueller and
Viktoria Krnacova each shot final rounds of 3-over 75 to finish tied for 28
th. Mueller turned in two-day scores of 78-72-75 while Krnacova carded three straight rounds of 75.
Eleonore Aernouts shot a 4-over 76 on the second day, finishing tied for 39
th with rounds of 82-69-76 while
Agatha Alesson finished tied for 53
rd after her second straight round of 3-over 75, finishing the two-day event with scores of 79-75-75.
Fehild Graesel also came in tied for 53
rd with two-day scores of 81-72-76.
The Little Rock women are home next week to host the Diamante Intercollegiate at Hot Springs Village, with three rounds over three days from Oct. 22-24.
