LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Athletics has added another experienced piece to its athletics performance staff with the hiring of
Danny Strohm as Assistant AD for Sports Performance.
Strohm arrives at Little Rock with an extensive Division I background and a reputation for individualized athlete development, bringing experience from multiple successful programs across collegiate athletics.
"What really drew me was just the opportunity that this place presents," Strohm said. "Obviously, moving into a new conference is very exciting, but also just the resources and the people that want to win and want to win at a high level. That was very attractive and that was something that I wanted to be a part of and grow in this department specifically and doing my job and helping that."
Strohm most recently spent two seasons at Georgia Southern University as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, working with men's basketball, men's golf and rifle.
Before his time at Georgia Southern, Strohm served as Interim Director of Strength & Conditioning at Southeast Missouri State University, where he worked primarily with men's basketball, baseball and volleyball. During his tenure, SEMO men's basketball earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 20 years and just the second in program history. He also was part of a baseball staff that helped guide the Redhawks to a signature NCAA Regional victory over nationally ranked University of Arkansas.
Strohm also spent a year at University of Northern Iowa as Director of Basketball Performance, overseeing all aspects of strength and conditioning for the Panthers' men's basketball program. His résumé additionally includes stops at Kansas State, Saint Louis and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, along with private-sector experience at ProForce in Cincinnati.
He will work heavily with the Trojan basketball programs while also overseeing sports performance efforts across multiple sports.
He will work heavily with the Trojan basketball programs while also overseeing sports performance efforts across multiple sports. With
Travis Ford assembling a new roster ahead of the Trojans' upcoming transition into the United Athletic Conference, Strohm said individualized evaluation and development will be a major focus.
"When they first come in, we're going to assess each one and see where they're at in their development," Strohm said. "Obviously, there's going to be some younger guys and some older guys that have been in college for some years now and have some good experience, so we're going to see where they're at and identify some of the areas we need to improve upon. We want to maximize their strengths that make them a great basketball player and minimize other areas and try to be as efficient as possible on the court."
Throughout his career, Strohm has helped develop 12 student-athletes who advanced to professional athletics, emphasizing durability, athletic performance and long-term development.
A former collegiate baseball standout, Strohm played at Webster University, where he earned Rawlings Gold Glove honors at second base while helping lead the Gorloks to the College World Series.
A native of St. Louis, Mo., Strohm holds numerous certifications, including CSCS, USAW, FMS, PRI and PES. He earned his bachelor's degree from Webster University and a master's degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
The move to Little Rock also brings Strohm and his family closer to home in the Midwest. He and his wife, Morgan, reside in Benton with the couple's year-old daughter Meredith and their dog, Gibson - named after Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Gibson. His brother, Ryan, serves as Director of Player Development for the men's basketball program at Southeast Missouri State, while his father, Joe, is Vice President of Ticket Sales for the St. Louis Cardinals.
