200 Medley Relay
The A relay team competing in the sprint medley includes
Caitlin Romprey on backstroke,
Lauren Pieniazkiewicz swimming breaststroke,
Lauren Gray doing the butterfly leg, and
Cheryl Poulsen anchoring with freestyle.
Â
The group combined for a time of 1:44.01, the third-best 200 medley relay time that a Trojan team has put together in program history. Both Romprey and Pieniazkiewicz, who were the only ones to swam in their same respective legs in the relay at the Kansas Classic, shaved time from their marks earlier this year to help the group take off approximately eight tenths from their seed time.
Lauren Pieniazkiewicz's 28.31 split in the 50 breaststroke was the fastest split in that leg for that relay ever for Little Rock, while Romprey's 50 back leg was a personal best.
800 Freestyle Relay
The group representing Little Rock in the longest relay of the week also claimed the third-best 800 free relay time the team has ever posted. The team of
Jaelle Carlson,
Gabriella O'Neil,
Delaney Crowder,
Avery Spencer touched the wall at 7:33.28, just over a tenth away from knocking out the number two time from last year.
Â
Together, the four Trojans cut off over six seconds from their seed time, paced by a quick 1:51 split from Carlson as the lead-off and helped by Crowder's best 200 free time, albeit a split.
Up Next
The action is just heating up for the Trojans, with only one session down and three full days of both prelims and finals to go. Tomorrow, the Trojans will compete in the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 1 meter diving, and the 200 freestyle relay at night.
