Women’s Basketball Signs Leilani Wimbish-Gay to National Letter of Intent

Forward from Temple College to join Trojans for 2023-24 season

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Head Women's Basketball Coach Joe Foley announced Wednesday that he has signed junior college forward Leilani Wimbish-Gay to a National Letter of Intent.

A 5-foot-10 forward originally from Victoria, Texas, Wimbish-Gay spent the past two seasons at Temple College where she averaged 11.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 3.2 steals and 2.6 blocks per game. She was her league's Freshman of the Year and a first team all-conference selection in the NTJCAC in 2021-22 while garnering honorable mention all-conference honors this past season.

"We recruited Leilani out of high school and are very excited that she will be a part of our Trojan family now," Foley said. "She is a very athletic guard that can score at all three levels – inside, midrange and outside. Her size and quickness will allow her to defend different positions for us."

Wimbish-Gay tallied 14 double-doubles in her junior college career and nearly had a triple-double in a 15-point, 11-rebound and nine-steal performance at Weatherford College on Feb. 4, 2023. In all, she totaled 501 points, 351 rebounds, 79 assists, 133 steals and 109 blocks over her two seasons with the Leopards.

"We are excited Leilani has chosen to further her basketball and academic career at Little Rock," Temple College Head Coach Amber Taylor said. "In the two years Leilani has been at Temple College, she has been an instrumental part of our success. Her accolades on the junior college level speak for themselves. We know that Leilani will be a key component in the continued success of Trojan Women's Basketball."

She was 34.5% (182-for-528) from the field with a 67.5% clip (131 of 194) from the free throw line in her junior college career and had five performances of 20 or more points scored.
