LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Little Rock Track and Field teams continue the 2023-24 Indoor Season at the Arkansas Invite on Friday. The meet starts at 11 a.m. with the men's shot put event.
The Trojans are coming off a strong start to the season at the Crimson and Gold Invitational at Pittsburg State on December 9th. Little Rock had two first place finishes, thirteen athletes in the top five, and two new school records on the day.
After the meet, the Trojans swept the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors..
Cameron Jackson and
Landri Schreier earned Track Athlete of the Week, while
Matthew Tyeskie and
Layloni Watson earned Freshman of the Week honors.
Jackson won the Crimson and Gold Invitational 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 21.33. The Kilgore, Texas-native is now ranked fourth in the NCAA, first in the OVC, and sixth in Little Rock career records.
Schreier placed fifth in the 60-meter dash with a personal best time of 7.55 and fifth in the 200-meter dash in 24.70. The Midlothian, Texas-native is now ranked first in the OVC in the 200 meters, second in the OVC in the 60 meters, and second in Little Rock career records in the 60 meters.
Tyeskie broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles placing fifth in 7.99 for a personal best. The Kilgore, Texas-native in now ranked first in the OVC and 33rd in the NCAA.
Watson placed second in the triple jump with a personal best distance of 39-11.5 and sixth in the long jump with a personal best distance of 18-6.5. The Temple, Texas-native is now ranked second in Little Rock records, third in the OVC, and 15th in the NCAA in the triple jump. She is also ranked second in Little Rock records and fourth in the OVC in the long jump.
