FULL CIRCLE: Trojan great Chastity Reed back in the program as assistant coach

The most celebrated player in Little Rock Women's Basketball history is back with the Trojans.  With her playing career at an end, Chastity Reed is ready to help develop the current team as an assistant coach. Head coach Steve Wiedower not only recruited and coached Reed at Little Rock, but didn't hesitate when the opportunity to add her to his coaching staff presented itself.

"Chastity is a hard worker. She's a winner and will impact our players both on the court and off with her drive and determination," Wiedower said. "She's played the game at the highest level and her experience will be a great asset to our team."

Reed played professionally for a dozen years, but prior to that, most people will remember her for what she did as a Trojan – four conference championships, four trips to the postseason, a 99-31 record in her four years, including a 53-4 record at home. The New Orleans, Louisiana native still holds 13 school records, including the marks for most points in a game (43) and highest single season scoring average (24.8).

Reed received AP All-America Honorable Mention in 2010,  was a three-time All-Sun Belt Conference 1st Team and All-Tournament Team selection, and MVP of the 2011 SBC Tournament. She was picked by the Tulsa Shock in the third round of the 2011 WNBA Draft, and played one season for Tulsa before an 11-year international career that came to an end in 2023.

Reed finished her career with Panathinaikos of the Greek League, where she was a member of the 2021 Greek National League Champions, and won the Greek Women's Basketball Cup in 2023. But now, she's ready to take on the next challenge in her basketball career — coaching.

"My career has been long and full of blessings, but I felt like I was ready for a different chapter and I'm excited to be back at Little Rock in a different role," Reed said. "I'm dedicated to doing whatever our program needs to be successful. I truly love Coach Wiedower, and I'm proud to be able to learn from him and the rest of the coaching staff."
