CHARLESTON, Ill. – Little Rock soccer will close out its regular-season road schedule on Sunday afternoon with a pivotal Ohio Valley Conference matchup against first-place Eastern Illinois. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. CT in Charleston, Illinois.
The Trojans enter the contest sitting second in the OVC standings with a 4-0-3 conference record, remaining one of just two unbeaten teams in league play. Eastern Illinois currently holds the top spot at 5-1-1, setting up a crucial late-season clash with major postseason implications.
Sophomore forward Maria Schuller, the reigning OVC Offensive Player of the Week, will look to carry her strong form into the weekend after a string of standout performances. Schuller ranks 13th nationally in goals per game in the NCAA, helping lead Little Rock's attack heading into Sunday's matchup.
Head coach Kelly Farrell shared her excitement ahead of the trip, saying,
"I'm looking forward to tomorrow's matchup because we've got everything to play for. Playing top teams at the end of the season with everything on the line is exciting. The team has done an incredible job to put themselves in this position and we are ready to battle tomorrow at Eastern."
The Trojans and Panthers have met seven times since their first meeting in 1995, with the series currently standing at 1-3-2 in favor of Eastern Illinois. Little Rock earned its first victory in the series last season, a 4-2 win in Charleston, before the teams battled to a scoreless draw earlier this year in Little Rock.
This weekend's contest marks Little Rock's final regular-season road match before closing out conference play at home next week.
