LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Riding the momentum of their first conference win, the Trojans return home Sunday to defend their perfect record at the Coleman Sports Complex against second-place Southern Indiana.
Little Rock (3-3-4, 1-0-2 OVC) enters Sunday's match off a 2-0 victory over SIUE, while Southern Indiana (5-5-2, 2-0-1 OVC) is coming off a 2-1 win against SEMO. The Trojans have been strong at home with a 2-0-2 record, while the Screaming Eagles are still searching for their first road victory of the season.
Since joining the OVC, Little Rock and Southern Indiana have met four times, with the Trojans holding a 2-1-1 edge. Although Southern Indiana claimed its first win in last year's matchup, Little Rock maintains the advantage in total goals, 4-2.
Both teams bring momentum into the matchup, each unbeaten for nearly a month. Little Rock hasn't lost since early September, while Southern Indiana has turned its season around after an 0-5 start, stringing together multiple win streaks to climb into second place in the OVC standings.
Southern Indiana's unbeaten streak could be in jeopardy Sunday, though, as Little Rock averages 2.25 goals per match at home, one of the top marks in the OVC, while the Screaming Eagles have managed just 0.6 goals per match on the road. The Trojans will look to keep their attack rolling against the league's second-place team.
Sophomore
Maria Schuller continues to make an impact offensively, leading the conference in shots and points while tying for first with six goals. Senior goalkeeper
Peyton Urban, who set a new school record with her 17th career shutout last Sunday, leads the conference with 15 saves.
Head coach
Kelly Farrell is ready to welcome Southern Indiana to Little Rock and defend the Trojans' home turf. She sees a team putting in the hard work needed to rise to the challenge.
"It's super important that we are bought into our game plan on Sunday and play our game. We need a 90-minute performance and to be relentless in both 18s [penalty boxes]. I'm excited for another opportunity to compete against a quality OVC team," said Farrell.
Sunday's match will also celebrate Hometown Heroes with a special halftime tribute.
Kickoff is set for noon and will be streamed on ESPN+, with updates provided on social media.
