LA QUINTA, CA. – The Little Rock men's golf team capitalized on under-par rounds from Archie Smith and Freddie Turnell to climb to third place on the leaderboard at 4-under after the second round of The Prestige on Tuesday.
The Trojans were led by senior Smith, who fired a three-under 68, while freshman Turnell continued to impress with a 1-under 70.The Trojans posted a second-round 281 after opening the event with a 283 on Monday.
After 36 holes, the Trojans sit in third place in the 24-team tournament. San Diego leads at 11-under, followed by Kansas (-5), Northwestern (-4), and Princeton (-3) rounding out the top five heading into the final round.
Matteo Cristoni played steady golf throughout the second round, carding 13 pars and two birdies to shoot an even-par 71. Alexander Rowland sits in a tie for 57th place at even par for the tournament. Rhett South continued his consistent play, recording nine pars and two birdies. He is currently tied for 80th place at six over par for the tournament.
