Little Rock falls to SEMO, still controls own OVC tournament destiny

Trojans can earn eighth seed with win or WIU loss Saturday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Little Rock dropped a 10-4 decision in Friday's second game of an Ohio Valley Conference series against SEMO, giving the Redhawks the series win prior to Saturday's rubber match. However, the Trojans find themselves in control of their own OVC Championship destiny entering tomorrow's regular season finale.

Coupled with another Western Illinois loss at Eastern Illinois on Friday, the Trojans can clinch the eighth and final spot in the OVC Championship with a win over SEMO on Saturday, or a loss by Western Illinois. Little Rock's game tomorrow is scheduled for a 2 pm first pitch from Capaha Field.

The Trojans (19-31, 8-15 OVC) fell behind 5-0 after three innings on Friday before battling back within a run at 5-4 in the sixth. SEMO (29-24, 15-11) added two runs in each the sixth and seventh frames and a run in the eighth.

Alex Seguine led the Trojans with two hits while Zach Henry, Cade Martin and Kade Goeke each had hits. Cade Martin hit a two-run homer off the scoreboard in the fifth inning to bring Little Rock within two runs, and Henry homered to right center in the sixth to make it 5-4. Seguine doubled and singled.

Jackson Wells went 5.1 innings, striking out six while allowing five hits and six earned runs on 92 pitches. Hunter Royal and Brody Bunting each pitched 1.1 innings of relief.
