MAUMELLE, Ark. - Last week, a host of Little Rock student-athletes representing different sports visited a Maumelle elementary school to greet and mentor students.
Pine Forest Elementary students were greeted by warm Trojan faces as they were dropped off at the school. Little Rock student-athletes opened car doors and gave students high-fives as they began the school day. There were also student-athletes inside the school forming a line to greet the kids.
Once the drop-off was complete, different groups of student-athletes spoke to the older classes and others read books to the younger students.
The appearance was part of a program the school includes that highlights different colleges from around the region.
"Seeing the kids at Pine Forest Elementary School was a great experience," said Little Rock assistant men's track coach Dion Murombe. "They are the future and knowing we can have an impact on it in a positive way is the best feeling."
