LITTLE ROCK, AR. – Little Rock returns to action on Sunday as the Trojans host SIUE at the Coleman Sports Complex. The matchup continues a closely contested series between the two programs that dates back more than three decades.
The Trojans enter the game coming off back-to-back ties to open Ohio Valley Conference play, drawing 1-1 with Tennessee Tech before finishing level at 1-1 against SEMO. Those results leave Little Rock unbeaten in league play with a 0-0-2 OVC record.
Series History
The Trojans and Cougars have met five times since 1990, with the all-time series deadlocked at one win apiece and three draws. The last three meetings have all ended in ties, including last year's 0-0 result in Edwardsville on September 26, 2024.
Little Rock earned its lone victory in 1991 when SIUE was forced to forfeit in a scheduled contest in Little Rock. The Trojans' only defeat in the series came in the inaugural meeting, a 3-0 loss on the road in 1990.
At home, Little Rock holds an unbeaten record of 1-0-1 against the Cougars. Each of the last two matches in Arkansas have ended in draws, most recently a 1-1 contest in 2023.
Head coach Kelly Farrell emphasized the importance of the matchup and the team's mindset going into Sunday's contest. "I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game. It's another opportunity for us to compete. I was disappointed in Thursday's performance and I'm looking forward to getting back on track on Sunday. The team is going to have a great mentality tomorrow and I'm excited to see us rebound back at home."
With both teams locked in a pattern of defensive battles over the past three years, Sunday's meeting gives the Trojans another chance to claim their first outright win in the series on the field. The Cougars, meanwhile, will look to maintain their unbeaten streak against Little Rock that has lasted since 1991.
