Martin Earns Second OVC Female Golfer of the Week Honor in Three Weeks

Argentinian Standout Goes 3-0 at Great River Cup

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Little Rock sophomore lara Martin has been named Ohio Valley Conference Female Golfer of the Week for the second time in three weeks, the league office announced Thursday

Martin posted a perfect 3-0 record in match play at the Great River Cup, helping lead the Trojans to a second-place finish, tied with Southern Miss.

This marks Martin's second weekly honor of the spring. She previously earned the award on Feb. 5 following a strong 12th-place finish at the Advance Golfers Collegiate.

"Like I said earlier, this is a long time in the making for Lara," Little Rock head coach Jenna Birch said. "She has worked hard to get to this point and early in the season is really standing out. She beat some very good players in Mississippi this week and helped lead our team."

Martin opened the tournament with an impressive 3&2 victory over Louisiana-Monroe standout Daniela Campillo Martinez. She followed with a 1UP win over James Madison's Bella Flores before closing the event with another 1UP victory against Arkansas State's Carolina Hughes.

"I am grateful again to win this award," Martin said. "I am happy and appreciate my teammates and coaches for their support. We played well as a team and have something to build on for the rest of the season."

Little Rock returns to action March 3 at the Puerto Rico Invitational as the Trojans continue their spring campaign.
