Martin Named OVC Golfer of the Month After Dominant February

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Little Rock sophomore lara Martin has been named Ohio Valley Conference Female Golfer of the Month for February after delivering a dominant stretch that included two individual weekly honors and leading the Trojans in both stroke play and match play competition.

Martin opened the month with a standout performance at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate, finishing tied for 12th at six-over par against a deep national field at Hammock Creek Golf Club. She capped the tournament with a two-under-par 70 in the final round, narrowly missing a top-10 finish while pacing the Trojans with her steady play across all three rounds. Her performance earned her OVC Female Golfer of the Week honors on Feb. 5.

She followed with an even more impressive showing at the Great River Cup, posting a perfect 3-0 record in match play and helping Little Rock secure a runner-up finish, tied with Southern Miss. Martin opened with a decisive 3&2 victory over Louisiana-Monroe's Daniela Campillo Martinez, then earned a 1UP win over James Madison's Bella Flores before closing with another 1UP victory against Arkansas State's Carolina Hughes. Her unbeaten performance earned her a second OVC Female Golfer of the Week honor on Feb. 26.

"lara has been incredibly consistent and confident in big moments," Little Rock head coach Jenna Birch said. "She's competing with a lot of poise and has proven she can beat top players. This recognition is well deserved and reflects the work she's put in every day."

For Martin, the award reflects both growth and confidence as she continues to establish herself among the conference's elite.

"It means a lot to be recognized, especially with so many great players in our conference," martin said. "I've been working hard on every part of my game, and I'm happy to contribute to our team's success. It motivates me to keep improving and helping us compete at a high level. I really appreciate the support from my coaches and teammates."

Martin's strong February has positioned her and the Trojans with momentum as Little Rock continues its spring schedule, with her leadership and consistent play expected to play a key role in the team's push for conference success.
