The WashU Distance Carnival is widely regarded as one of the premier distance meets of the outdoor season, featuring only events from the 800 meters and above. It provides a strong early-season test for Little Rock's distance group, which will be competing outdoors for the first time this year after not racing last weekend at LSU.
Graduate student
Jordan Smith, alongside freshman
Zach Morin, will lead the men's squad. On the women's side, senior
Cayla Anthony is set to make her season debut after battling injuries throughout cross country and the indoor season, looking to regain form heading into the outdoor campaign.
Coach Speak
"I'm really excited for the distance carnival up at WashU this week. It looks like the weather should cooperate well and be at a solid temperature for the 5Ks. It is our first outdoor meet for the group, but I'm looking for some strong efforts and fast times. We've had some really good training, and I think we can put together some fun performances to set us up well for the rest of the season. It should be a great trip, and I'm looking forward to seeing how we show up," said assistant coach Jordyn Naylon.

Freshmen
Jeremiah Patton and
Colter Maya will look to build on impressive starts to their collegiate careers. In the field events, freshmen

Coach Speak
"Excited for a big weekend for the Trojans. The WashU Distance Carnival is one of the premier distance meets in the country this weekend. Most of our distance athletes didn't compete last weekend so they could be fully prepared for this level of competition. Our sprinters and jumpers will be heading to Prairie View looking to improve on their marks from LSU," said head coach
J.P. Behnke.
