LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock's freshmen are making waves as three Trojans earn Ohio Valley Conference weekly honors. Freshman
Jeremiah Patton was named Male Track Athlete and Freshman of the Week; freshman
Brianna Brinkley earned Female Co-Track Athlete of the Week; and freshman
Cortlin Edgerly was honored as Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Patton continues to dominate for Little Rock, earning his fourth and fifth OVC weekly awards. He secured the honors after posting a blazing 20.68 in the 200 meters at the LSU Opener, a time likely to qualify him for the NCAA Prelims in May. Patton also ran the 100 meters in 10.33 and contributed to the second leg of the 4x100 meter relay.
"It feels good to win the OVC Track and Freshman Athlete of the Week. But at the same time, this is just the beginning for me. My main focus is staying consistent, improving every meet, and helping my team continue to succeed," said Patton.
Edgerly, another standout freshman, earned his first OVC weekly award after competing in multiple events in Baton Rouge, including the 100 meters and long jump. His long jump of 7.44 meters not only earned him the award but also ties for fourth on Little Rock's all-time list.
"I'm blessed to have been given the opportunity to perform so early in the season, and I hope for more results and similar execution later in the season alongside my teammates," said Edgerly.
On the women's side, Brinkley earned a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 1:02.45 as she continues her stellar freshman campaign. This marks her first OVC weekly award and Little Rock's first female OVC track athlete of the week this season.

J.P. Behnke praised the freshmen for their early-season performances.
"Happy to see Brianna, Cortlin, and Jeremiah recognized for how they started the outdoor season. They set the bar high for themselves this year, and the expectation is they will only get better," said Behnke.
