LAFAYETTE, La. – The Little Rock men's golf team returns to competition this week as the Trojans travel to Louisiana to compete in the Louisiana Classics, a two-day, 54-hole tournament hosted at Oakbourne Country Club (par 72, 6,866 yards).
The 16-team event begins Monday and concludes Tuesday.
Little Rock has not competed since opening the spring season at The Prestige in California on February 16–18. The Trojans will look to build on that experience against another strong field in Lafayette.
While the Louisiana Classics field is not quite as deep as the one in California, it still features several nationally ranked programs. Texas A&M enters the tournament ranked No. 29 nationally, while Little Rock is ranked No. 48. South Alabama (No. 65) is the only other team in the field ranked inside the top 70.
Viggo Talasmaki will lead the Trojan lineup after finishing 16th at The Prestige earlier this spring. He will compete as Little Rock's No. 1 golfer.
Talasmaki will be joined in the lineup by Ed Featherstone, Rhett South, Mark Stockdale, and Elliott Simonsen.
The Trojans will play 36 holes Monday before closing the tournament with the final 18 holes Tuesday.
