Seifert Receives Defensive Player of the Week Honors

LITTLE ROCK- Senior defender Liesa Seifert has received Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for her dominant presence on a strong defensive back line, announced Tuesday by league officials.

The German defender has proved to be the leader of the team's defense, playing all 180 minutes in the two matches last weekend. Seifert was all over the pitch, using her speed and strength to stifle opponents' scoring chances.

The 2017 Second Team All-Sun Belt selection was instrumental in the team's 1-0 shutout of Sam Houston State. She helped fend off five Bearkat corners as the team was frantically trying to find an equalizer in the dying minutes.

Seifert has helped the team to four shutouts, which is the most in the Sun Belt.  Her presence has also helped the team post an impressive 0.82 goals against average, which is second in the conference.

The Trojans will begin conference play this Friday when they take on Coastal Carolina on Sept. 14.
