BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three Trojans have qualified for the finals of four events at the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, being held at the Birmingham CrossPlex, while Little Rock picked up its first points of the championship meet.

Two Trojan competitors logged the fastest times during Monday's preliminary events, beginning with Shanieke Watson finishing first in the women's 800 meters with a season-best time of 2:11.19 to advance to Tuesday's final. Little Rock just missed having a qualifier in the women's 200 meters as
Aaliyah Lacy placed ninth among the qualifying time with a 25.02.
On the men's side, Little Rock will be represented by a pair of competitors in the men's 60 meter dash in
Keshawn Andrews and
Charles Okeze. Andrews won his heat with a time of 6.83 while Okeze logged a time of 6.81 as the duo will represent the Trojans Tuesday.
Okeze also qualified in the men's 200 meter dash, registering the fastest preliminary time at 21.15, a season-best for the senior. He was nearly joined by
Jalen Black in the men's 400 meters as Black finished ninth among the field with a time of 49.45, just four-thousandths off his season-best time.
There were some other notable performances, including
Bria Allen setting a new personal-best in the long jump with a mark of 5.13 meters as she was the top Little Rock finisher.
Aaliyah Lacy also set a new career-best in the 60 meters with a time of 7.73.
Heading into the final day of competition in the heptathlon,
Max Holzmueller sits eighth overall with 2,684 points, tied for the second-best performance in the high jump at 1.92 meters.
Little Rock earned its first points of the conference meet in the final event of the day, placing seventh in the men's distance medley. The team of

Jalen Black,
Hunter Tucker and
Emilio Medina recorded a time of 10:23.69, earning the Trojans its first two points of 2019.
The final day of competition resumes with the completion of the heptathlon at 9 a.m. with field events beginning at noon. The running event finals also start at noon with the women's and men's mile, leading up to the 4x400 meter relays at approximately 4 p.m. Live coverage of the final day will begin at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
