LAREDO, Texas – Little Rock sits seventh among the 17-team field after the opening two rounds of the 2020 Border Olympics at Max Mandel Golf Course in Laredo. The Trojans are 8-over 584 through 36 holes, sitting two shots out of fifth-place.
Little Rock opened play in the second tournament of the spring semester with a 2-over 290 after round one, sitting fourth among the field.
Danial Durisic had the low round of the morning session for the Trojans with a 1-under 71, followed by an even-par 72 from
Devon Whitaker and a 1-over 73 from
Marcel Rauch.
The Trojans added four shots to its second round total, carding a 6-over 294 in the afternoon session. Rauch posted the low round for Little Rock, matching Durisic's 1-under 71 in round one. Durisic flipped scores with Rauch, shooting a 1-over 73 while
Logan Pate carded a 2-over 74 for the second-straight round.
With 36 holes played, Durisic and Rauch are tied for 13th in the individual standings at even-par 144, four shots better than both Pate and Whitaker's 4-over 148 as the duo is tied for 38th.
Anton Albers closes out the Trojan scorecard with a 14-over 156 following a 79-77 on day one.
After 36 holes, Little Rock holds a one shot lead on eighth-place Lamar (9-over 585) and is two shots better than ninth-place Rice (10-over 586). The Trojans head into Tuesday's final round one shot back of Campbell in sixth (7-over 583) and two shots back of host Houston (6-over 582) for fifth.
Sam Houston State has raced out to the team lead with an 11-under 565, leading UT San Antonio (5-under 570) by five shots. ULM is the only other team to finish under in the opening two rounds at 4-under 572 as Arkansas State (2-over 578) and the host Cougars round out the top-five.
Tuesday's final round begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start as the Trojans will begin in wave two on holes 5-8, playing with Houston and Campbell in the final round groupings. Live scoring is available at
