Kourouma, Caicedo Claim All-Conference Honors

Trojans claim two all-conference honors for ninth consecutive year

NEW ORLEANS – For the ninth consecutive year, Little Rock had at least two players receive all-conference honors as the Sun Belt Conference announced its postseason awards Monday. Receiving the 36th and 37th honors in program history, respectively, Sali Kourouma and Mayra Caicedo were recognized by the league.

Kourouma was named to the second team while Caicedo received third team accolades. With the awards, Little Rock continued its streak of having an all-conference honoree in each of the 19 seasons Joe Foley has guided the program.

In her first season in a Little Rock uniform, Kourouma averaged 17.5 points and 5.9 rebounds over her 19 games played. She shot 38.8% from the field while grabbing 112 rebounds, recording 25 steals, 13 assists and 10 blocks. During Sun Belt play, she averaged 15.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 41.1% from the field and nearly 30% from 3-point range. Kourouma finished the regular season ranked 68th nationally and third in the Sun Belt in scoring average.

Caicedo garnered third team honors for the second straight season as she averaged 7.5 points, 5.2 assists and 3.6 rebounds over her 24 games played with 46 total steals. The senior was even more impressive in league play, averaging 8.5 points, 5.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 31.3% from 3-point range and swiping 31 steals against Sun Belt foes. Caicedo finished the regular season ranked 35th nationally in assists per game (5.2), 55th nationally in total assists (124) and 143rd nationally in steals per game (1.92).

Kourouma and Caicedo led Little Rock to a fourth-place finish in Little Rock's final season in the Sun Belt Conference, winning seven of their last eight games. The duo will now lead the Trojans into the Sun Belt Tournament beginning Wednesday when the fifth-seeded Trojans will face No. 12-seed ULM at 2 p.m.
