OXFORD, Miss. – Every centimeter matters. That rang true for
Aaliyah Mathis Saturday as she set a new school record in the discus throw by a single centimeter at the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford.

Mathis' threw 47.84m (which translates to approximately 156-feet, 11-inches) to place seventh and set a new school record. Her record throw passed the old school record set by current teammate
Alison Stephens by a single centimeter after Stephens set the mark with a throw of 47.83m at last year's Sun Belt Championships.

That record mark came after Mathis recorded a new personal best and the seventh-best shot put throw in school history earlier in the day, throwing 42-11.75 (13.10m) to place 15
th in the competition.
Janae Largins followed in 21
st with a throw of 40-4.25 (12.30m) as her personal best mark ranks eighth in school history.

Breya Clark continued her season on the podium, earning two silver medals on the day. Her first came in the high jump as she cleared 5-5 (1.65m) to finish second and then she followed that up by jumping 39-7.25 (12.07m) to place second in the triple jump.

The women's 4x100m relay also posted a podium finish as the quartet of
Gabby Ayiteyfio,
Aaliyah Lacy,
Landri Schreier and
Maliyah Holland ran 46.93 to place third. Their time marked the eighth-fastest time in school history.

Jaelyn Tucker registered the seventh-best long jump in school history as her leap of 18-2.5 (5.55m) placed her sixth at the meat.
Bria Allen followed in ninth, jumping 17-8.25 (5.39m).

On the men's side,
Jordan Wallace jumped 47-1.75 (14.37m) to finish second in the triple jump while
Jalen Black ran 48.79 in the 400m to finish seventh.

Little Rock returns to action on April 7-8 when the Trojans will head to Fayetteville for the John McDonnell Invitational.
