DALLAS, Texas – Little Rock placed six athletes in the top three as the Trojans closed out the regular season at the SMU Invite.
Seniors
Deshawn Roberts and
Brooklyn Marcee led the way in Dallas. Roberts tied his personal best in the high jump with a mark of 2.11 meters to finish second, while Marcee claimed first place in the pole vault with an outdoor season-best mark of 3.90 meters.
"I feel great about yesterday's [Friday's] competition and I am fired up for the conference meet," said Roberts.
Other highlights included sophomore
Braeden Bell continuing to impress in the sprints, placing third in the 100 meters with a time of 10.65. Senior
JaDerrika Welch-Fields added another strong performance, finishing third in the high jump (1.68 meters) with a new personal best to cap off a stellar senior season.
Freshmen
Zach Morin and
Colter Maya also turned in standout performances, each placing second in their respective events. Morin clocked a time of 15:04.01 in the 5000 meters, while Maya recorded a season-best 47.59 in the 400 meters.
"I'm really proud of how we competed this weekend. We had a lot of strong performances across the board and saw some big steps forward," said head coach
J.P. Behnke. "Now it's about building on this and getting ready to go compete for a championship."

Following a successful trip to Dallas, Little Rock will use the upcoming week to prepare for the Ohio Valley Conference Championship, set for May 14–16 at the Coleman Sports Complex in Little Rock.
The Trojans will look to build momentum, contend for a conference title, and defend their home turf.
