Trojans Post a Handful of Personal-Bests at Red Wolves Open

JONESBORO, Ark. – A handful of new personal-bests were set in Jonesboro as a limited number of Little Rock competitors took part in the Red Wolves Open Saturday afternoon.

Seven different Trojans placed in the top-five in their respective events, highlighted by Lindsey Hutcheson capturing the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:52.15, just shy of her personal best. Aaron Soltmann placed third on the men's side of the steeplechase with a time of 10:27.51.
 
Ariana Garcia placed third in the women's 5,000 meters, running a time of 19:01.75. Spencer Cardinal also had a top-five, placing fifth in the men's 5,000 meters (15:09.86) while Andrew Payton finished fifth in the men's 800 meters (1:55.62).
 
In the sprints, Jalen Black set a new personal best in the men's 400 meters at 46.08, one one-hundredths of a second better than his previous PR en route to finishing second.
 
The field events were led by Desmond Frazier placing fourth in the men's shot put at 15.12 meters, followed by Griffin Casey placing sixth with a mark of 13.83 meters. Aaliyah Mathis set a new personal-best in the women's shot put at 13.19 meters, placing seventh. Ethan Sorrels also finished seventh in the men's high jump, clearing 6'0".
 
Little Rock returns to action Thursday, April 28, making the trip down to the DFW Metroplex to compete in the UT Arlington Under Armour Invitational.
