Little Rock to Take on Mississippi Valley in Home Opener Sunday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Trojans will host their first soccer game of the season this Sunday, facing Mississippi Valley at 6 p.m. at the Coleman Sports Complex. 
 
Festivities at the Coleman Sports Complex will get underway at 5 p.m. with the Trojan Tailgate. The annual event, this year part of the university's Welcome Week festivities as students return to campus, will feature free food, giveaways and prizes along with the KONA Ice truck taking part.

Three Things to Know:

1. Dominance Over the SWAC
   Sunday's match against Mississippi Valley State will be the 31st game between Little Rock and an opponent coming from the Southwestern Athletic Conference. In those meetings, the Trojans are 28-2 all-time and 8-0 against Mississippi Valley.
2. Little Rock in Home Openers
   Going into the 36th season of the program's existence, Little Rock is 18-15-1 in home openers in program history. On this current streak, the Trojans have not lost a home opener since 2018. Last year began with a scoreless draw versus UT Martin.
3. Trojans are on the Board
   With Natalee Geren scoring against Memphis last Sunday, the Trojans have officially scored their first goal of 2022. Gerens' goal came on a free kick that ricocheted off the goalies' hands from just outside of the box. This was also the first goal against a ranked opponent in program history.
