SOUTH BEND, Ind. –
Viggo Talasmaki fired a 1-under-par round Monday to lead Little Rock on the opening day of the Fighting Irish Classic at Warren Golf Club.
Talasmaki sits in 12th place after two rounds on the Notre Dame campus, pacing the Trojans in a competitive 16-team field. Teammate
Ed Featherstone finished even on the day and is currently tied for 20th. As a team, Little Rock stands eighth heading into Tuesday's final round.
"It was a really solid day for Viggo on a tough golf course," said head coach
Austin Eoff. "We struggled to finish the round, so it'll be important to come out focused and ready to go tomorrow."
The Trojans will also have to contend with changing conditions in Tuesday's final round, with highs expected in the mid-60s and thunderstorms in the area.
"We have rain and colder temperatures moving in Monday night and into Tuesday," Eoff added. "Stringing together pars will be even more important in the final round."
