Cooper Chaplain was recognized by the Ohio Valley Conference as its Player of the Week with a blistering performance over the last four games.
Chaplain – a native of Jackson, Mississippi – hit .500 (9-for-18) last week during four contests, scoring six runs and hitting three home runs with 10 RBI. He compiled a .550 on-base percentage and slugged 1.000 as the Trojans knocked off No. 11 Ole Miss and won two of three against Western Illinois.

Defensively, he was just as solid, converting all 32 chances in the field with 16 putouts and 16 assists while helping the Trojans turn six double plays. Chaplain has reached base safely in 33 consecutive games, is currently on an 11-game hitting streak and ranks eighth in the OVC in batting average (.350).
His week started with a 3-for-5 game with 3 RBI at Ole Miss, then continued against WIU with home runs in each of the first two games. He drove in the game-winning run against Ole Miss and had at least two hits in all four games last week. Chaplain currently leads the team in average, walks (21), slugging (.503), runs scored (35) and stolen bases (10).
